Design Without Compromise.
Hybrid steel and PVC cladding structures deliver design flexibility, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
Design Quality and Project Feasibility.
Your clients expect energy-efficient, sustainable buildings that meet strict performance requirements—often within budgets that don’t allow for the cost or timeline of traditional construction. Metal building systems can restrict design flexibility, while conventional methods extend schedules and drive up costs.
Our structures are often mistaken for temporary or limited-use building systems. The reality is different. Engineered with rigid steel I-beam frames, Legacy permanent structures deliver the design freedom, technical performance, and code compliance architects need to bring distinctive projects to life within real-world constraints.
We’re here to help you succeed.
Full Design Integration
-
3D Modeling
Steel structure is fully detailed in 3D model (TEKLA), allowing for complex trade integration with your multi-discipline design team.
-
Submittal Support
Complete submittal document packages are prepared for jurisdiction-specific requirements. This removes the burden of compiling technical documentation for unfamiliar building systems and reduces approval timeline risks.
-
Structural System
Our rigid steel I-beam frame system delivers clear spans up to 300+ feet without interior columns. Unlike cable or truss membrane systems, Legacy's structural approach supports collateral loads including HVAC equipment, lighting grids, scoreboards, and overhead cranes. Connection details are available in CAD formats for integration into your construction documents.
-
Thermal Performance
- Uninsulated configuration: ExxoTec™ white PVC cladding provides a durable, weather-resistant building envelope that helps reduce air infiltration and limits radiant heat gain compared to traditional metal cladding. This system supports more stable interior conditions for non-conditioned or lightly conditioned spaces.
- Insulated configuration: Insulation packages are available to meet project-specific thermal performance requirements, improving resistance to heat transfer and supporting consistent interior temperatures. Insulated systems can include a white interior liner that conceals structural framing and contributes to overall energy efficiency by helping manage heat retention and loss.
-
PVC Cladding Envelope Performance
ExxoTec™ PVC cladding provides UV resistance engineered for long-term service life. Our patented attachment system creates a seamless envelope that sheds water without ponding or seam vulnerability.
-
Lifespan & Maintenance
The steel frame is designed for long-term service. EpoxxiShield™ corrosion-resistant coating protects the frame in corrosive environments. The PVC cladding carries a 20-year warranty. Maintenance requirements are minimal—periodic washing with recommended cleaning methods maintains appearance and performance.
Built to Code, Every Time
International Building Code Compliance
Legacy structures are permanent and meet International Building Code requirements for wind, snow, and seismic loads. Every building includes a professional engineer's stamp in all 50 states.
State-Specific Product Approvals
Our buildings have been approved across multiple jurisdictions, including Florida product approvals and California Department of General Services reviews for K-12 and community college projects. We maintain documentation for jurisdiction-specific requirements.
Fire & Life Safety
ExxoTec™ PVC cladding carries fire-retardant certification. Our structures meet code egress and accessibility requirements and accommodate fire suppression systems. All components are engineered for code-compliant life safety performance.
Energy Code Compliance
Legacy buildings can be designed to meet energy code requirements through available insulation packages. We provide thermal performance data for energy modeling.
Architectural Freedom, Structural Strength
Roof Profiles
Legacy structures accommodate gable, arched, or hybrid roof configurations. Slope angles are customizable to meet site-specific snow load requirements or aesthetic preferences. Uninsulated buildings feature translucent fabric roofs; insulated buildings use opaque insulation with interior liner.
Wall Cladding Integration
Our steel frame system allows integration of multiple exterior and interior finishes. The Texas A&M University track and field facility demonstrates this approach—the project incorporated partial brick walls to match existing campus architecture while maintaining the structural and performance benefits of the hybrid building system.
Interior Aesthetics
Uninsulated buildings feature exposed steel framing and a clean PVC cladding system, resulting in a modern, industrial aesthetic with visible structure and efficient material use.
Insulated buildings include a bright interior liner that conceals structural elements and provides a refined, finished appearance. Natural light reflection from the liner can reduce the need for additional artificial lighting requirements.
Both configurations offer column-free interiors that maximize usable space and simplify equipment placement or future reconfigurations.
Custom Features
Standard options include eaves and overhangs for weather protection, multiple door types (overhead sectional, bifold aircraft hangar, personnel), window integrations, and accommodation for mechanical systems. Every Legacy building is custom-engineered to your specific project requirements.

FAQs
-
Will my general contractor be comfortable working with PVC clad structures?
Legacy provides factory-trained installation crews or comprehensive oversight and training for your general contractor. Our installation system uses fewer components and simpler connections compared to traditional construction. We've successfully worked with general contractors who had no prior PVC-clad building experience.
-
What happens if the building official questions fabric construction?
We provide technical documentation, engineering calculations, and examples of approved projects in similar jurisdictions. Our team can participate in meetings with building officials to address technical questions.
-
How does lifecycle cost compare to metal buildings?
Steel buildings in corrosive environments require periodic recoating. Hot-dip galvanizing, the industry standard for corrosion protection, degrades when exposed to salt, fertilizer, or chemical storage conditions. Legacy's EpoxxiShield™ coating system and building envelope reduce recurring maintenance costs while extending the building's service life.
-
Can Legacy buildings accommodate future modifications?
The steel frame system allows for additions, door and window changes, and mechanical system upgrades without compromising structural integrity. Several clients have expanded their original structures or modified openings to accommodate evolving operational needs.
-
What warranty coverage exists?
Our warranty package includes pro-rated structural frame coverage for 15 years, pro-rated fabric coverage for 25 years, and installation workmanship protection. Specific warranty terms are provided during project planning and are included in contract documentation.
