The Rundown
The mine in Chile is a vast sprawling copper mine, and we are installing a building to store copper concentrate in port before it is moved to ships. The scale of this building is impressive, and the conveyor system supported by our roof frame is the heaviest we have ever worked with. The corrosion issue is that copper concentrate reacts chemically with galvanizing, so that was not even an option. Our Epoxxishield perfectly met their specs and requirements. Due to the overall project timeline, the buildings had to be constructed in the dead of winter. We had a great working relationship with Legacy throughout the entire process. Our salt is delivered by rail cars to a large pit next to the storage structure. A conveyor system hoists it from pit to building. Legacy was the only company we talked to that could supply trusses strong enough to support the conveyors.
