“Legacy Building Solutions has given Solar Ship more than just a state-of-the-art hangar and assembly building. Through our close collaboration, their design incorporates a self-reliant photovoltaic power package that sits above the fabric roof, allowing our building operations to be entirely off-grid. In addition, Legacy’s foundation design allowed us to re-use an existing concrete pad, saving us time and money during construction. These innovations were part of our top-level requirements, and delivering on them really sets Legacy apart from the traditional building segment.”
Lewis Reford | Solar Ship
“The old buildings used tubular steel, and no matter what you do, the salt gets inside the tubes and corrodes them. Legacy was very easy to work with. They came out here with their crew, rented all their equipment, and erected the buildings in three weeks flat – a week ahead of schedule. It’s a stand-up company.”
Theo Gatsonis | CM & Sons
“It was a priority to get the new building operating quickly so we could continue our programming. They were totally committed to doing whatever was necessary to support our project.”
Steve Henry | OKC Tennis Center
“We have really bad soil conditions here. Because of our soil issues, we simply couldn’t afford to construct a more traditional building. The concrete costs made a more traditional building cost prohibitive. The lightweight design of our Legacy building allowed us to reach a compromise between soil conditions and cost. Regarding the design and construction phases of the building, I can say that the process went exceptionally well. When I made eleventh-hour changes to the job, Legacy handled them with ease. The Legacy construction crew was very professional and courteous. They finished the job well ahead of schedule, worked safely, and followed our stringent safety requirements to the letter.”
Joe Bitter | Alliant Energy/IEI Barge Services
“I love the amount of sunlight that you still get through the roof. It’s kind of like being outside all the time but still having shade. It stays pretty warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. It͛s very quiet inside. When you get rain or hail or wind, there’s no banging or clanging, no sharp or rough sounds. The acoustics are good. It’s fresh and dry and clean. You don’t ever have condensation dripping off the roof. It’s a controlled environment, yet you still get the benefit of the daylight coming in.”
“A lot of the temporary structures in the region are fabric structures, so we mainly looked at those types of buildings. Due to the overall project timeline, the buildings had to be constructed in the dead of winter. We had a great working relationship with Legacy throughout the entire process. They supply a very high quality fabric structure, and we’re certainly pleased with what we’ve seen from the buildings thus far.”
John Lehman | BBE Hydro Constructors
“Cost was the initial factor for selecting Legacy, but once we saw the engineering that goes into their design, we understood that could make it easy for us to expand the building in later phases. We also liked its compatibility with conventional construction. There are a lot of possibilities we could explore in the future.
Working with Legacy was great. The guys who constructed the building worked under some really, really tough conditions, but they wrapped it up on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, and the building opened Christmas morning. Everyone was very responsive, and it was a pleasure to work with them. Once visitors got into the building and we experienced the interior environment with the heat flow and the insulation, we were very satisfied.”
Tom Tar | Belleayre Mountain
“Great service over many years. The facility looks great and it is very photogenic, which is important since we get a lot of media coverage.”
David Brown | TSNY
“Our salt is delivered by rail cars to a large pit next to the storage structure. A conveyor system hoists it from pit to building. Legacy was the only company we talked to that could supply trusses strong enough to support the conveyors.”
“I asked you to give us a very aggressive timeline and you delivered on that. Your team obviously consists of “can do” personnel and always worked to find a solution for every problem we addressed during the project. We asked for no subsurface disruption and your team delivered a well-engineered solution at a reasonable cost. Your install team is first rate, both with their work ethic and desire to deliver a superior product. The building that they installed is outstanding. We did our walk-through this morning and from our VP down, it was all compliments. I would personally recommend a Legacy Building to anyone. Thank you for everything.”
Doug Holbrook | CH2M-WG Idaho, LLC
“With this Legacy design, we were able to save money and space by integrating a wash bay into the storage structure. The setup we use is also ideal for eliminating environmental concerns, since all the salt-laden water is contained instead of running off.”
Steve McAvoy | INDOT
“The building provides a unique environment for attending a concert, and the sound quality inside is amazing. It’s a terrific venue.”
Dan Mastronardi | Creative Concerts
“The whole engineering phase with Legacy was excellent. They were very responsive to our ideas and turned things around very quickly. Even the installation was fast—the whole building was erected in about seven days.
The fabric roof allows a lot of natural light into the building, which is a big advantage on the operations floor, since it reduces our need for artificial lighting inside. It provides significant sheltering from rain, wind and cold. Even though we didn’t have it insulated, it’s still noticeably more comfortable inside during the winter. The structure actually provides more of a shading and cooling effect.
The Legacy building has performed at or above expectations in many ways. And on top of its functionality within our process, it offers environmentally friendly features in its own right. It’s a great system for our application.”
Dean Foor | JC Biomethane
“We obviously had contracts, but the overall feel was kind of like the olden days, where you felt you could just take somebody at their word. Everything that Legacy said they were going to do, they did. Price is a major factor in any purchase decision. But we didn’t blink at having to pay a little more for the Legacy structure. Sometimes you have to spend more to get a higher quality building.
The installation was very smooth. Legacy’s in-house crew worked in cold winter conditions, and they erected the building within five days. They were a very professional group, and I’d highly recommend them.
We like the sidewall columns going straight up instead of curving down like in our hoop buildings. First off, it lets us put more product in there. And our front-end loaders can get much closer to the walls and drive straight down the sides. It gives us more working room and increases our efficiency.
In the long run I think this will be a building that requires less maintenance. Legacy was so outstanding to work with that I didn’t even bother looking at pricing elsewhere.”
Marty Shell | Five Rivers
“The new building will protect the salt supply from being compromised by wind and precipitation. Once the general contractor completed the footings and floors, Legacy installed the fabric building very quickly, in about two weeks. It was a very positive process with professional communication between Legacy and Dewberry throughout the project.”
Craig Swengle | Dewberry Engineers
“Having designed the mechanical and electrical systems, as well as structural foundations for these types of buildings, we find that a Legacy fabric structure has superior insulation value compared to a pre-engineered metal structure with the same ‘R’ value of insulation.”
Terry Smith | TWS President and CEO
“By today’s standards, the buildings we’re designing are of world-class caliber in the U.S. and Canada. Legacy offered several features that put them at the top of the list. We were very impressed by their engineering team. They are unique among fabric buildings in that they build on a rigid steel frame. Everything looked good, from the eave and ridge ventilation system to the method for installing fabric panels. Combined with material delivery times and the time to construct, Legacy seemed like the perfect choice for our application.
“The whole design is very efficient for our operations. Flexibility is key, especially when the building is a ‘first of its kind’ for the industry. We had one design change after the whole plan was in place, to widen our trapeze in the structure that supports the conveyor, and Legacy was able to make that change without any problem. The conveyor system fits and operates just as it was designed.
“Legacy knew our schedule and saved us over 30 days of downtime. They stood the frames for the entire fabric structure in a single day, and everything – conveyors, electrical, fabric – was completed within five weeks of them coming to the site. It was a Herculean effort on Legacy’s part. It was fantastic. They have a very passionate team, from top to bottom. In all respects, from design to pricing to production, Legacy is one of the best building contractors I’ve ever worked with. I look forward to working with them again.”
Mike Miller | Source Energy Services
“Our transportation system requires the diesel buses to be stored in a facility to keep them warm and protected from the elements. Legacy’s customized fabric structure design was able to fit our purposes. It was a good experience working with Legacy. Their in-house installation crew put up the building very quickly. They’re easy to work with and willing to help, and the communication with the city and responsiveness throughout the project was very good.”
Joe Balge | Davenport Department of Public Works
“We needed something that would withstand the corrosive environment better than our current building. What first drew us to Legacy was the concept of the rigid steel frame with fabric. We feel the rigid frame will give us many more years of service than the open web structures.
Legacy’s attention to detail, answering of endless questions that we had and prompt response to those questions also played a role in our decision to go with Legacy. And because so many details were ironed out in the beginning we built a very good building with very few modifications to the scope during the building process.
We felt you could deliver on what you were proposing. Legacy pricing is very compatible to your competitors. Another plus for going with Legacy was the fact you had crews who were MSHA trained and you already had an MSHA Contractor ID. Your crew worked efficiently and safely.
Once we were assured the liner cavity could be vented properly, the liner option seems to be a great add on for our environment. It is very obvious this will help in reduction of dust resting on the trusses. We liked the fact this building could be built with no cables. Instead, we used hot dipped galvanized steel rods.
We are very proud to have partnered with Legacy to construct our Salt Containment Structure. We feel we now have a long term solution to our salt storage needs, a building that will be around for a long time to come.”
